B. Sparkling Water Cleanser Review

Over the last couple of weeks I have been updating my skin care products and trying new things.  Cleansing is an important part of my skin care routine when it comes to removing make-up, dirt, debris and excess oils.    When I was in Superdrug last week I noticed a lot of products branded B and it turns out its Superdrugs own brand.  I was drawn to this Sparkling Water Cleanser because it claims to be ‘for all skin types’ and I have always been a little dubious about products that say.  At the moment this cleanser is £3.45 but was £6.99 which is a little expensive for a gel cleanser.

The ingredients of B. Sparkling water cleanser are,

Aqua, Alcohol Denat., Diglycerin, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Hydroxide, Parfum, Allantoin, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice Powder, Disodium EDTA, Lactic Acid, Bisabolol, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Benzoate, Trideceth-9, Potassium Sorbate, Prunus Cerasus (Bitter Cherry) Flower Extract, CI 17200.

According to product information it claims,

‘B. Clean Sparkling Water Cleanser can be used on its own or as a “double cleanse” after make-up removal. Skin will feel thoroughly clean and refreshed.

Features

The Benefits:
Light, bubbly formula – the gel texture turns to water on application, instantly refreshing the skin.
Removes residual make-up – leaves skin thoroughly cleansed ready for the next step of your skincare routine.
Dermatologically approved. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Made in the U.K.’

This gel textured formula does turn to water on application and it leaves the skin feeling squeaky clean.   Although it states in can be used on its own, after using this for a few weeks, I would say it’s more effective as a double cleanser because you would/should still have to use an oil based cleanser first.  The consistency is soft, it’s easy to apply and easy to wash off.

The only drawback of this cleanser is that I don’t believe it is for all skin types.  I have oily/combination skin and it is great at reducing sebum.  On the other hand, sometimes my skin becomes sensitive in particular areas.  When I have used this on certain ares on my skin have become sensitive it stings.  I don’t think this would be too good for dry skin either just because my skin feels dry after use.  So, if you have dry skin already it may make it worse.

Overall, it is a decent cleanser.  It suitable for vegans and vegetarians and works well as a double cleanser.
