It has been about 6 or 7 weeks since I moved to China and everything (for me) has just been all over the place. I really underestimated the immense effort, will power and mental stress it would take to move to another country. Nevertheless, I’m here and it’s nice.
Academics| Moving to China was part of my degree so, the main reason I am here is to improve and hopefully become fluent in Chinese. I’m also enrolled at a Chinese university in China and I must attend lessons 3 hours five days a week. It didn’t seem like a lot aft first until I realised how intense the lessons were. I was certainly taken aback. Even though the lessons are intense, so far I have learned more Chinese on a night out than I have in the classroom.
Eats| I’ve eaten more McDonalds and/or fruit than I have Chinese food. However, the Chinese food I have had so far has been really nice.
Reads| Moving to China has been a whirl wind and unfortunately I couldn’t bring as many books as I wanted with me. The majority of this year will be spent listening to audiobooks. I’m sure there are bookstores here in Shanghai that have English titles but that would just be more for me to take back home with me.
Wears| Although the weather here has been warm, it is far from pleasant because of the humidity and pollution.
